Qld: Cabinet ignores casino benefits

BRISBANE, Jan 1 AAP - The Bjelke-Petersen government rejected a report which largely
recommended the state allow a casino, previously secret documents show.
Cabinet minutes from 1973, released under the 30-year rule today, revealed two senior
Queensland Treasury officers travelled to Hobart on behalf of the then premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen
to inspect Wrest Point casino.
The officials painted a largely positive picture of the casino.
