Fed: Brown says Labor not going nearly far enough
Greens leader BOB BROWN says Labor's proposed amendments to the free trade agreement
legislation don't go far enough.
Senator BROWN says the proposed amendments will fix less than 10 per cent of problems
with the agreement.
Opposition leader MARK LATHAM has announced Labor will support the FTA but will push
for changes to protect the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme as well as local content quotas
on Australian television.
Senator BROWN says there needs to be further amendments to ensure against a price hike
for pharmaceuticals, protect manufacturing jobs and water rights, and to provide for an
environmental impact statement.
