Qld: Teens allegedly behind one of a string of armed robberies

BRISBANE, April 9 AAP - Three teenage boys brandished a machete and held up a service
station in one of a string of armed robberies, Queensland police say.

Three juveniles - two aged 14 and the other 15 - are due to appear in the Ipswich Children's
Court, west of Brisbane, tomorrow after allegedly robbing the United service station in
Springfield on Friday.

Police today said the trio had been charged with armed robbery, assault occasioning
bodily harm, stealing, wilful damage, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstructing
police.

They allegedly armed themselves with machetes and stole cigarettes and money, a police
spokeswoman said.

In a separate incident, police are searching for a man and woman who robbed the Kitchen
Sync store at Ascot, in Brisbane's north, about 2pm (AEST) yesterday armed with screwdrivers.

The police spokeswoman said the man threatened the store's male owner before stealing
money and a cordless phone.

She said the woman then entered the store - with a screwdriver tucked into the front
of her pants - and threatened a male and female customer.

The male offender then stole the woman's handbag and the man's wallet before he and
his female accomplice fled the store.

Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man is due in court today charged over an alleged armed robbery
at Bracken Ridge in Brisbane's north about 3pm (AEST) yesterday.

The man allegedly threatened two male employees with a knife.

He is due to face Sandgate Magistrates Court charged with five offences including armed robbery.

In yet another incident, police arrested a man who allegedly held up the Mobil service
station on Gympie Road at Strathpine, in Brisbane's north, about 9.20pm (AEST) yesterday.
