SYDNEY, Aug 6 AAP - As the world economy teeters, Australia needs to reform, The Weekend
Australian says in its editorial today.

A large part of Australia's economic success is built on a healthy work ethic and innovative
approach. This is the human capital the Gillard government must unbridle if we are to
maximise our prosperity.

The way to insulate ourselves from the vagaries of global markets and the difficulties
of a two-speed economy is to lift our productivity.

The Productivity Commission has highlighted the powerful benefits that would flow,
in the retail sector, from labour flexibility and shop-trading deregulation, but the
Prime Minister and Treasurer turn blind eyes.

Australia cannot control splurging European governments or force frugality upon Washington
politicians, but we can reform our own economy to maximise our ability to compete. Only
the free-market economy can produce the profits and generate the jobs that are the lifeblood
of all economies.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Treasurer Wayne Swan need to broaden their focus from
unproductive reforms such as the carbon tax, to a serious productivity agenda.

The Sydney Morning Herald says market behaviour last seen after Lehmann Brothers collapsed
is being repeated as investors rush to safe havens.

For governments, which suddenly look vulnerable, the normal fiscal mechanisms to deal
with recession are not available.

Through dependence on the minerals boom, Australia's fortunes are closely tied to China's.

A downturn there would probably be far worse for Australia than collapses on share markets,
and China's fate is linked to that of the US and Europe as they provide markets for many
of its exports.

Meanwhile, consumers are saving, not spending - repaying the debts they ran up in the
past two decades. With sentiment fragile, the share market plunge may be enough to produce
the downturn that many seem to fear.

If it becomes necessary, Australians should expect the government to stimulate the
economy quickly, and early. They know from recent experience that stimulus spending works.

Sydney's The Daily Telegraph says Australia's success in dealing with the global financial
crisis should not allow a false sense of invulnerability to develop this time round.

We face difficulties not as prominent three years ago and that will require some delicate
political massaging to emerge from this downturn unscathed.

A stimulus-style intervention in the retail sector is unlikely to alter shoppers' defensive
mindset.

The government has gone too far in re-regulating the labour market. With the global
situation becoming more restrictive, Australia needs to be more flexible.

The government could can lighten the regulatory load on employers, who face an increased
number of barriers when it comes to such areas as casual and weekend employment.

It might also reconsider the timing and scope of the planned carbon dioxide tax, which
can only add to the nation's financial burden.

Melbourne's The Age says although $55 billion was wiped from the Australian share market
on Friday, Australians should be alert, not alarmed, and must remember the state of our
finances are the envy of the world.

Australians ought to have greater confidence than is suggested by the plunge in the
local sharemarket.

Our economy is not shackled by debt. The state of our finances and public policy are
the envy of most of the world. So, the fear that has rightly hit other places feels misplaced
here.

We must never be complacent or self-satisfied, for that is a sure path to decline and
real despair, but we oughtn't forget the standard of living and stability of our pluralist
political system are prizes for which people elsewhere d are prepared to die.

Melbourne's Herald Sun says electricity distribution bosses telling struggling families
to use less power in order to lower their bills is just another kick in the teeth.

The bosses of Victoria's five electricity distribution companies lay part of the blame
at families, saying they should better manage their power use and shop for better deals.

United Energy, Jemena, SP Ausnet, CitiPower and Powercor earned $1.3 billion from their
Victorian operations last year.

The distribution companies say what they charge is governed by a regulator. But when
they don't like the regulation, they challenge it in court.

No wonder family purses have snapped shut and retail spending has fallen to its worst
level in 50 years.

Brisbane's The Courier-Mail says Queensland's Department of Environment and Resource
Management raid on Southport property to seize air horns being used to scare away roosting
bats must set a new benchmark for official insensitivity to the plight of real people.

Without question it has a duty to protect our wildlife, but are court-sanctioned raids
on private property the right response to the actions of householders driven to the limit?

Surely there has to be some flexibility, especially with bat colonies and the spread
of Hendra virus.

Here is a real chance for the Bligh administration and its bureaucrats to show just
how clever they are: it will take real ingenuity, imagination and common sense to solve
the bat problem.

NSW:NSW Roads Minister to review CBD gridlock

SYDNEY, April 11 AAP - The NSW Roads Minister will review Sunday's traffic gridlock
in Sydney's CBD at a meeting on Monday to ensure it doesn't recur.

The Harbour Bridge and several roads were closed for most of the morning to make way
for a world triathlon championship event, bringing parts of the city to a standstill and
causing long delays for motorists.

The problem was compounded by heavy traffic in the eastern suburbs due to the St George
Illawarra-Dragons and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs game and the Sydney Family Show at
Moore Park.

Roads Minister Duncan Gay blamed the previous government, in conjunction with the RTA,
for approving the closures.

"Frankly it was a mess," he told Macquarie Radio Network on Monday.

"We'll be having a meeting this morning to review this.

"I appreciated that they (the RTA) apologised, which I believe is a new way the RTA
is operating; less arrogance."

"It shouldn't have happened and my job this morning is to make sure that it damn well
doesn't happen again."

NSW: Man left in serious condition after pub glassing

SYDNEY, Aug 21 AAP - A Sydney pub brawl in which people armed themselves with bottles,
chairs and stools was sparked when a patron had a schooner glass smashed over his face,
police say.

A 19-year-old man was sitting on a stool at a Penrith hotel at about 1.10am (AEST)
on Friday when police allege he was struck in the face with a schooner glass by a 21-year-old
man.

"Police arrived at the location a short time later to find a large number of people
fighting in the car park area," police said in a statement.

"Police observed several people to be carrying bottles, chairs and stools and were
forced to subdue the crowd with the use of capsicum spray."

The officers had to call for back-up from neighbouring commands to control the incident.

The victim of the glassing was taken to Nepean Hospital in a serious condition where
he has since undergone surgery for cuts to his neck and eye.

The 21-year-old Penrith man was later charged with malicious wounding.

He was refused bail and is due to face Penrith Local Court on Friday.

VIC: Fraser calls for dramatic Liberals overhaul in Victoria

AAP General News (Australia)

VIC: Fraser calls for dramatic Liberals overhaul in Victoria

MELBOURNE, Feb 11 AAP - Former prime minister Malcolm Fraser says the Victorian Liberal
Party has lurched right, become dangerously factionalised and needs a dramatic overhaul
if it is to survive.

Mr Fraser, who was prime minister from 1975 to 1983, told Fairfax today that the party
was controlled by ideological conservatives who stifled dissent and were driving thousands
of rank-and-file members away.

Fairfax said Mr Fraser had sent an email to leading Liberals that called for the party's
head office to release its control of preselections at a state and federal level.

Preselections should be decided by a plebiscite, with senate candidates (now chosen
by a central panel) chosen by a poll of all Victorian party members.

"It would make it much harder for a faction to control that broader group," he wrote.

The Victorian party had "narrowed its base, and boxed itself into a corner", he wrote.

"It is important that the power of individual members be re-established, that the importance
of branches be re-emphasised, and that the power of a few to achieve the election of those
who hold views which they support be diminished".

The email comes ahead of an expected challenge to the faction of former federal treasurer
Peter Costello and former party president Michael Kroger by forces loyal to former premier
Jeff Kennett and current Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu.

It also coincides with a proposal by Nationals Victorian president Bill Baxter to replace
the Liberal and National parties with a new conservative party.

Asked yesterday who was responsible for what he calls the "ideological conservatism"

of the party, Mr Fraser would not name names but described Mr Baillieu as "one good piece
of news" for the party.

NSW: Police program to reduce billion-dollar fraud crime

AAP General News (Australia)

NSW: Police program to reduce billion-dollar fraud crime

by Andrew Drummond

SYDNEY, Aug 23 AAP - Australia's billion-dollar-a-year fraud industry is stinging a
growing number of innocent people, police say.

The escalating rate of fraud, most commonly involving internet investment scams, has
prompted police around the country to join forces and develop a community education scheme.

"We are seeing people lose their life savings, their houses, their businesses, their
families, sometimes their lives, all as a result of being the victim of fraud," Queensland
police Detective Inspector Brian Hay told reporters in Sydney today.

Insp Hay, considered Australia's leading fraud expert, said hundreds of thousands of
dollars had already been saved through the establishment of the Security Awareness and
Fraud Education (SAFE) program.

"The level of sophistication ... of fraud is at an all time high and if left unabated
will definitely increase," he said.

"An enormous number of Australians are being drawn into elaborate and devious schemes
each year, schemes that only want one thing ... to steal from you ... your money, your
identity or too often, both.

"I've got countless stories from people who have been sending money for up to 15 years
to people they haven't even met."

The results of fraud research undertaken by money transfer business Western Union show
the victims of fraud are often intelligent, educated people.

One such victim is NSW businessman Andrew Kennedy who invested in a Nigerian scheme
in 1999 after meeting a man who presented "paperwork and proof of the deal".

"I am seeking justice through the courts, but the process is long," Mr Kennedy said.

"It has taken seven years of my life, and cost me $1.2 million. But more than anything
it has exhausted me emotionally."

Western Union regional vice-president Paul Crawford said people should seek advice
if they were in doubt about a transaction.

"You should think twice if you don't know the person you are sending money to, if they
have asked you to keep dealings secret or if you have been asked to forward funds transferred
into your account by someone you don't know," he said.

The SAFE program aims to educate consumers about the different types of fraud and highlights
popular scams.

The program has the support of nation wide police, Western Union, internet shopping
site eBay, and major banks.

In addition to advertisements in print media, it includes two websites - www.ebay.com.au/securitycentre
and www.westernunion.com.au/info/fraudindex.

Anyone with information about frauds and scams should call the police Crime Stoppers
line on 1800 333 000.

Qld: Teens allegedly behind one of a string of armed robberies

BRISBANE, April 9 AAP - Three teenage boys brandished a machete and held up a service
station in one of a string of armed robberies, Queensland police say.

Three juveniles - two aged 14 and the other 15 - are due to appear in the Ipswich Children's
Court, west of Brisbane, tomorrow after allegedly robbing the United service station in
Springfield on Friday.

Police today said the trio had been charged with armed robbery, assault occasioning
bodily harm, stealing, wilful damage, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstructing

They allegedly armed themselves with machetes and stole cigarettes and money, a police
spokeswoman said.

In a separate incident, police are searching for a man and woman who robbed the Kitchen
Sync store at Ascot, in Brisbane's north, about 2pm (AEST) yesterday armed with screwdrivers.

The police spokeswoman said the man threatened the store's male owner before stealing
money and a cordless phone.

She said the woman then entered the store - with a screwdriver tucked into the front
of her pants - and threatened a male and female customer.

The male offender then stole the woman's handbag and the man's wallet before he and
his female accomplice fled the store.

Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man is due in court today charged over an alleged armed robbery
at Bracken Ridge in Brisbane's north about 3pm (AEST) yesterday.

The man allegedly threatened two male employees with a knife.

He is due to face Sandgate Magistrates Court charged with five offences including armed robbery.

In yet another incident, police arrested a man who allegedly held up the Mobil service
station on Gympie Road at Strathpine, in Brisbane's north, about 9.20pm (AEST) yesterday.

The man allegedly threatened two staff members with a knife before fleeing with a sum of cash.

Fed: Hanson worried sick S Africans allowed into Aust

Fed: Hanson worried sick S Africans allowed into Aust

By Nick Butterly

CANBERRA, Dec 7 AAP - One Nation founder Pauline Hanson says she's worried that black
South Africans infected with AIDS and tuberculosis are allowed into Australia.

Flagging a political comeback at next year's federal election, Ms Hanson also said
she was angry Australians were unable to swim in public baths because of the sensitivities
of Muslims.

"You don't bend over backwards appeasing their demands because the politicians want
their vote ... unless you change this you will have social incohesion which is already
happening in this country," she told Southern Cross Broadcasting.

"If they don't want it, then they can go back where they came from."

Ms Hanson said she was committed to running as an independent in Queensland at the
next election, though she had not made up her mind if she would run for the lower house
or Senate.

She said she decided to make a political comeback after members of the public had urged
her to do so.

"I have still got a lot of issues and I have still got a lot of concerns like a lot
of Australians and I think that I would like to voice my opinions and have a say on behalf
of the Australian people, to represent them," she said.

Ms Hanson claimed that federal parliamentary secretary for immigration Andrew Robb
had admitted on television that the government was letting in many "black South Africans"

with health issues.

"Andrew Robb actually admitted that a few months ago, it was on TV," she said.

"He indicated there was around about 37 per cent of black South Africans that were
coming in with ongoing health issues."

Ms Hanson said she had been told by a hospital worker of an African woman with AIDS
who had given birth to a child with AIDS.

"There's increasing numbers of TB (tuberculosis) and they have picked up ... it could
be almost one third that actually carries TB," she claimed.

"I have got children, grandchildren ... I would hate to see anyone who may be subjected
to catching TB or AIDS."

Ms Hanson was jailed in 2003 for fraudulently registering the One Nation party and
spent 73 days in prison before her conviction was overturned.

She split from her former party and has spent the past two years writing her autobiography.

Questioned on her concerns about Muslims, Ms Hanson said she was angry that Australians
were no longer able to sing Christmas carols in schools or swim in public swimming pools.

"What people are getting all upset about is the fact that you can't sing Christmas
carols in schools because it upsets a certain amount of people," she said.

"You can't actually swim in baths because a certain amount of people want their privacy
to swim in those baths.

"Swimming baths and pools that have been paid for by the taxpayers over the years and
yet they are closed to everyone to use at the same time."

Ms Hanson said she was also concerned about the government's new industrial relations
laws, the privatisation of government assets and bureaucratic red tape.

"I don't want to be bowed or beaten or pushed in the corner by politicians who just
want to have it their way," she said.

"These are issues, concerns that I have. I have a right to know the answers."

Ms Hanson said she would make an official announcement about her comeback next year.

She said she would give herself plenty of time to campaign.

Accused serial killer indicted

A Blue Island man accused of killing three teenagers and raping a fourth was formally charged with their murders Monday.

Sonny Pierce, 27, is charged in the August 2010 sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl. DNA collected during that investigation linked him to the murders of two other teens, police said. A computer seized during those investigations connected him, prosecutors said, to a third victim whose body has not been found.

Pierce was indicted Monday with three counts of first-degree murder and an arraignment date was set for May 25, Cook County state's attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin said.

Pierce was ordered held without bail April 20.

Kimika Coleman, 18, of Chicago, was found strangled in an alley in Blue Island; Kiara Windom, of Harvey, 18, also strangled, was found in an alley on Chicago's Southeast Side.

Pierce also is accused of killing Mariah Edwards, 17, whose lifeless body, prosecutors say, appears in a sex tape found on Pierce's computer. Edwards' body has not been found.

Pierce met his victims on phone chatlines or the Internet and would sexually assault them before killing them, authorities said.

Attorney Nicholas Albukerk, who represents Pierce on the sexual assault charges, asked a Cook County judge on April 28 to put Pierce into protective custody while he's being held in the jail. The request was granted by that afternoon, sheriff's spokeswoman Liane Jackson said.

Columbia, S.C.-Based Interactive Firm Sells Assets; Shutdown Likely.

By Joe Guy Collier, The State, Columbia, S.C. Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News

Feb. 23--Columbia-based Renaissance Interactive Holding Corp. is nearly out of business.

Jack Warner, who took over as chief executive in December, said this week the company has sold for an undisclosed price two key pieces of its business to newly-formed companies in Columbia.

Under the moves:

--Digital Systems Support, working with e-Wizards, has acquired a client list of about 200 companies that had been using Renaissance for services such as Web hosting, e-mail and data storage

--True Matter has taken over a client list of 15 companies that Renaissance worked with on custom Web development projects.

--Renaissance has one remaining major asset, its BizGear product. The company is trying to sell BizGear, a software package which helps build Web sites.

Once BizGear is sold or licensed to another company, Renaissance likely will go out of business, Warner said. Warner and a bookkeeper are the last two Renaissance employees.

Renaissance Interactive, the parent company of Renaissance and Impressa, shut down in late December with the layoff of about 45 employees.

The company, which landed $16 million in venture capital investments two years ago, once had more than 100 employees.

"We are in the process of winding down operations," Warner said. "At some point, the legal entity will be dissolved." Renaissance worked to transition clients to other service providers as quickly as possible, Warner said.

The principals of the new companies taking over the Renaissance business said they saw a chance to continue the work of a locally built technology firm.

Girish Yajnik, a University of South Carolina engineering professor, and Pete Cannon are the principals behind Digital Systems Support.

Cannon's PPC real estate firm owns the Sumter Street offices that housed Renaissance. He's also the father of former Renaissance chief executive Rich Cannon.

Digital Systems has contracted out Internet and computer networking services to e-Wizards, a student-run company in the USC Columbia Technology Incubator.

e-Wizards has 10 student employees and a pool of 20 more ready to join the company as business increases, said Rishabh Parikh, a USC senior and president of e-Wizards.

The company is in the process of contacting Renaissance's client list to transfer contracts to the new firm, he said.

"This is a big opportunity for us," Parikh said. "It should help out a lot of students by giving them on-the-job training." True Matter was formed by former Renaissance employees. Five of True Matter's six employees worked for the firm.

Rusty Farrell, president and chief executive of True Matter, said all 15 of the Renaissance clients have signed on with the new firm and the company is already pursuing new projects.

40 years of service: a true home away from home.(Cover story)

The Navy Guest House Program was formed in 1961 to provide temporary housing for authorized personnel at installations where adequate and reasonable priced facilities were unavailable in the nearby vicinity. The transfer of temporary lodging facilities to the Navy Ship Store Office (NSSO) was originally called for by the Secretary of the Navy in 1961.

In those early days, the facilities went by many names--guest houses, Quonset huts, and the Navy Exchange Motel. In 1969, a shortage of Navy Housing still existed and the Navy responded to this situation by establishing a separate nonappropriated fund instrumentality for all temporary lodging facilities, thus the modern Navy Lodge Program was born.

Over the years, the Navy Lodge Program has changed with the times. In the 1980s, a centralized reservation center with toll free phone number was added to serve the traveling military with one call for all reservations. Throughout the 1990s the Navy Lodge Program continued upgrading and renovating its facilities and it established the "Green Earth" program to help save the environment. In 2000, family demands continued to expand the requirement of guest service to include suites, expanded kitchens, larger lobbies, internet connectivity, free local phone service and many other amenities and services.

One of the most popular was the pet policy which allows pets to stay with members while in the Navy Lodge. In addition, the reservation center, once only for Navy Lodges, is now the Department of Defense (DoD) Reservation Center providing guest service and reservation capabilities to all military services.

As the Navy Lodge Program enters the next decade, improvements continue to be made to improve the service it provides to its guests, including the Breakfast to Go program, Wi Fi hot spots and flat screen TVs.

"Navy Lodges today offer the price, location, cleanliness and guest service travelers are looking for when away from home," explained Mike Bockelman, vice president, Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) and director, Navy Lodge Program. "Navy Lodges are also conveniently located on or near the Navy installation for quick access to all Commands as well as other amenities such as the NEX and MWR restaurants and food courts, gyms and other recreation activities."

Navy Lodges serve all branches of active duty military members, their families, retired military, members of the Armed Forces Reserves, Public Health Service and DoD personnel on official orders. To make a reservation, call 1-800-NAVY-INN, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or go online at www. navy-lodge.com.

Mosques guarded.

Provided by 7DAYS.ae

Police guarded mosques belonging to the minority Ahmadiyah sect across Indonesia yesterday as fears of vigilante violence rose after the government threatened sect members with jail. Police were deployed outside Ahmadiyah mosques in several cities as religious leaders of all levels struggled to digest Monday's decree ordering the sect to stop spreading un-Islamic beliefs.

The sect's plight is being seen as a test case of religious freedom in the world's most populous Muslim country where many say a long tradition of tolerant pluralism is under threat from increasingly aggressive hardliners. Dozens of people claiming to be concerned local citizens stormed an Ahmadiyah office in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, to demand the sect disband, Antara news agency said, but otherwise there were no reports of violence.

Sect spokesman Syamsir Ali said some of the group's followers were praying at home and "keeping a low profile" in response to the decree ordering them to stop spreading un-Islamic ideas or face five years in prison. The decree came in response to calls for jihad or holy war from a small minority of fanatical extremists after the country's top Islamic body declared Ahmadiyah "deviant."

"There has been no communication with us. The government has given us no detailed information," Ali said. Two days after the government issued the decree it was still unclear what it meant for the country's small Ahmadi community and for religious freedom in general. Senior officials said the sect was entitled to worship in its mosques but could not "spread" its unorthodox belief that there was another prophet after Mohammed.

But religious minority leaders and moderate Muslims said the decree was so ambiguous it opened the door for extremist groups to step up their campaign of violent intimidation against sect members in the country.

The station master; Perfect curves... but can this radio cope with the presenter's internet demands?(Features)

Byline: Zoe SALMON

I'm one of those people who has to put something on to fill the flat with background noise the minute I get home, and I always make straight for the radio. On my old DAB radio, I'd pretty much listened to everything ten times over, so testing the new Pure Contour - with the whole world of internet radio stations available to me - was just fantastic.

There are so many stations on o[bar]er that I rarely listen to the same one twice. I came across a Russian one that plays Beatles songs all day and another that just plays Christmas music, 365 days a year - I love that. If you're really into something, you can be assured there'll be a station for you out there.

I really warmed to the Contour's design - the shape is nice and distinctive, and Pure hasn't cluttered up the smoothness of it too much. The iPod dock slides out from the base, which I thought was a nice touch. The sound is very clear as well - the bass is nice and strong, and you don't need to turn it up very high before it gets loud. It never struggled for reception, and coped well with different types of music.

You select internet radio through something called the Lounge, which you need to sign up to online (it's free). It works in a similar way to iTunes, and you can access it on the radio or on your PC.

As well as being a useful place to search for and sort radio stations, the Lounge is also where you can subscribe to 'FlowSongs'. This costs [pounds sterling]2.99 a year, but allows you to buy a song at the touch of a button if you hear it on the radio. The track is downloaded to the device (for a fee - usually 79p to [pounds sterling]1.29), and you can then transfer it to an MP3 player, or just play it back.

The other feature I like is that the Contour can access BBC iPlayer radio content. It's good not to have to use your laptop to catch up on old shows.

What isn't so good is that there are so many stations to scroll through, it can take ages to navigate to them on the device. That's the downside of a small screen - you can't type something in like you could on a computer or phone. Fortunately, you can create folders in which to save your favourite stations.

In general, using the Contour is easy - there are touch-sensitive controls beside the LCD display, and it's basically foolproof. The menus make sense, and it comes with a simple remote. If I wanted to buy someone a radio, I'd get one of these.

In the meantime, I've been in talks about doing some work on radio myself - so if you do buy a Contour you could find me on the [pounds sterling]200,

, pure.com Catch Zoe on 'The Love Bus', channel5.com/demand5

Remove your iPod or iPhone and the retractable dock will slide back to fi t into the Contour's curvy body - a nice design touch.

Thanks to Wi-Fi you can listen to internet radio or music streamed from your computer; video out means you can watch iPhone footage on your TV.

Behind the cloth grille are two 3.5in speakers that push out 36W of sound - ample for most rooms.

Reportlinker Adds Wireless Broadband in Public Safety - Advanced Technologies and Global Market (2010 - 2015).(Company overview)

NEW YORK, June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report is available in its catalogue:

Wireless Broadband in Public Safety - Advanced Technologies and Global Market (2010 - 2015)

http://www.reportlinker.com/p0547659/Wireless-Broadband-in-Public-Safety---Advanced-Technologies-and-Global-Market-2010---2015.html?utm_source=prnewswire&utm_medium=pr&utm_campaign=Wireless_Technology

Report Description

Wireless broadband technology, in its various forms, is getting popular, driven by its applications in public safety, transportation, and utility industries. The sector had earlier experienced problems due to unreliable equipment and faulty network designs, but these have been taken care of with improvements in infrastructure and advanced network technologies.

With increasing terrorism across the globe and unanticipated natural disasters over the last decade, the public safety application segment has emerged as a key market for the wireless broadband technology providers. Growth in the implementation of city-wide and municipal wireless broadband services is driving innovations worth billions of dollars, and is expected to scale new heights within the next five years; benefiting ISPs (internet service providers), mobile device, and infrastructure developers.

Developments during the next three to six years are expected to be crucial for wireless broadband technologies. Analog television spectrum is likely to be cleared by most countries and auctioned off to mobile broadband operators. In line with the U.S., these spectrums are likely to be used in public safety applications in many countries. The usage of satellite technology in public safety is gaining momentum as there is a growing need for integration and effective collaboration among public safety institutions and advanced navigation and information system; especially in remote locations.
